Privacy Policy

Last updated: March 2026

At Nidus Array, we take your privacy seriously. This policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our recipe suggestion and kitchen management platform.

1. Information We Collect

We collect information that you provide directly to us:

  • Pantry & Ingredient Data: Ingredients you add, quantities, and expiry dates to power recipe suggestions.
  • Recipe Interactions: Recipes you save, cook, and rate to improve recommendations.
  • Meal Plans & Shopping Lists: Planning data you create within the app.
  • Feedback & Communications: Messages you send us through the feedback form.
  • Device Information: A unique device identifier for personalization (no login required).

2. How We Use Your Data

  • Provide personalized recipe suggestions based on your ingredients
  • Track your pantry inventory and alert you to expiring items
  • Generate meal plans and shopping lists tailored to your preferences
  • Improve our recipe database and suggestion algorithms
  • Analyze usage patterns to improve the app experience

3. Image Processing

When you use our ingredient scanning feature, photos are processed to identify ingredients. If using the local AI provider (Ollama), images never leave your device. When using cloud AI providers, images are sent securely for processing and are not stored permanently.

4. Cookies & Analytics

We use self-hosted analytics to understand how our app is used. We collect anonymous page views and interaction events. We do not use third-party tracking cookies or share data with advertising networks.

5. Data Retention

Your pantry data, saved recipes, and meal plans are stored as long as your device identifier remains active. Analytics data is retained for up to 12 months. You can request deletion of your data at any time by contacting us.

6. Third-Party Services

Depending on configuration, we may use third-party AI services (OpenAI, Google Gemini, Anthropic) for recipe generation and image analysis. These services process data according to their own privacy policies. By default, Nidus Array uses local AI processing (Ollama) which keeps all data on your device.

7. Data Security

We implement appropriate security measures to protect your data, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), secure database storage, and regular security reviews. However, no internet transmission is completely secure.

8. Contact Us
